It was a rather cool, grey day in Marrakech when I had the opportunity to interview artist Christo during the opening of his exhibition Femmes at the Yves Saint Laurent museum in Marrakech. During the press preview, I was able to visit the exhibition and admire the striking Wedding Dress sculpture, a very fitting choice given its reference to both fashion and women. The exhibition, the artist’s first in Morocco and in a fashion museum, happened following a chance encounter just months prior Christo explained during our Why Morocco podcast interview.
The exhibition is on now until 2 June 2019 at the Yves Saint Laurent museum in Marrakech, one of my favourite spaces in town. I head there regularly when I want to be inspired and suggest planning an afternoon having lunch in the Studio Cafe and a leisurely wander through the Majorelle Gardens as well which are further up the street.
Note that the museum is closed on Wednesdays.
In the meantime, listen in as Christo talks his artworks and ideas, his first show in Morocco and in a fashion museum and whether or not we may see one of his larger installations making an appearance here.
