After the Marrakech Art Fair last Saturday, the place to be was certainly Matisse Art Gallery. Amazing DJs, awesome juice bar and Moroccan sweets were the perfect accompaniment to the brilliant exhibit by Moroccan artist Hassan Hajjaj.
Pop culture symbols combine to send powerful messages about society through the various works on display. Dolls dressed in jellabas made from Gucci fabrics. Or Louis Vuitton. After all, high culture always seems to find a way to blend with tradition. And the background? A coke box. Because no traditional meal of tajine would be complete with a refreshing coca-cola.
Anyway, if you’re in Marrakech check out the exhibit on display until October 15 at Matisse Art Gallery.
