How it all started: Day one

Despite being tired after a red-eye flight from Montreal, I couldn’t wait to explore the city. I had waited 10 years to land in Morocco and I wasn’t going to waste a day sleeping. I was bursting at the seams with excitement.

So I set out to explore Casablanca. And let’s just say that there was an angel watching over me because knowing what I know now, I would never wander the streets of Casablanca alone.

You see I wanted to follow the art-deco tour explained in Lonely Planet.  But it was complicated and hard to follow. I saw only a few buildings and spent the majority wandering aimlessly down streets that were not clearly marked.

Yet, despite it all, I saw beauty everywhere – in the locals I met in cafes and could practice my French with, to the run-down buildings, and the amazing tajine I shared with new friends that evening.

  1. I love your posts (I subscribe 🙂 ). I hope I have the opportunity to visit morocco one day :). I’m retired now, and I’m learning Arabic while my wife speaks French :). Maybe we could fit in 🙂

Thank you, again. I look forward to future posts!

    1. Thank you for your kind words. I too hope you will get to visit Morocco. You know I learned French here and am now trying to learn Arabic. The best way to learn is to speak everyday, in real situations. Hope to see you here soon!
