City girl

I’m a city girl.  Like a live in the heart of the city, shop locally, eat locally and live locally kinda gal.  My worst nightmare would be life in the suburbs.  Spending a day off hitting the big-bog shops in a giant SUV is not me.  Nope. Never.

But despite my love of the hustle and bustle, I feel the need to get out every once in awhile.  You know, the need to be somewhere calm.  Relaxing.  And enjoy the simplicity and slower pace of village life.  A place to put things back into perspective.  To slow down.  And enjoy the surrounding nature.

And that’s the beauty of Marrakech.  Day trips to the ocean, mountains, or desert are all possible.

On this particular day out, I headed off with a new friend to the Ourika Valley.  Where we walked through little Berber villages, where neighbours were chatting in the streets and children were running and playing freely.

And as we hopped in our taxi to head back to the Red City, we enjoyed the sun setting over the countryside, feeling ready to face the hustle and bustle of the city once again!
