I didn’t want to go. With deadlines, a busy work schedule and an inbox that seemed to produce 2 + for each email I sent, I really just wanted to keep on working. Even though the average work day is 12+ hours these days. Though I must say, I love every minute of it.
But I HAD to spend a weekend in Spain for various reasons.
So I went.
And I am so happy I did.
Because after all those long days, working on various projects, I needed time for me. Take some time “out” before I started to neglect me.
And that’s exactly what I did. I didn’t respond to any client emails. I didn’t think about deadlines.
Instead I cycled through the small villages and rolling farmland of Catalonia.
And ate organic fruits and veggies, accompanied by local wine of course.
Then wandered through the little streets of Girona, shopping and soaking up the atmosphere.
I thought just about me. Took the time to look inward. Because that’s when new ideas, realizations and logical thinking can truly flourish.
And when I came back, I felt rested. Filled with energy and new ideas.
After all, as Marilyn Monroe once said, I restore myself when I’m alone!
