Ah Friday. My favourite day of the week.
Not because the weekend is just around the corner and that means two days off from the 9-5. Au contraire for those of us working in tourism.
But because here it’s the holy day. The shops close until mid-afternoon. And people enjoy couscous for lunch with friends and family after mid-day prayers. The day when life slows day. It reminds me of Sundays when I was growing up.
So since today’s #FriFoto theme is holy places, I thought I’d share some photos from Fes.
Like the view of the minarets that dots the skyline of the old Fes medina, and fill the tiny streets with the sound of the call to prayer five times per day.
And the old Koranic schools where Koranic scripture is carved into the stucco.
Ah beauty!
Lovely pictures! Fez is certainly a spiritual place! We did a blog post too, including the Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech! http://hg2magazine.com/2012/05/18/frifotos-holy-places/
Thank you for your comment. I enjoyed your photos as well! x
