It’s been very quiet on here, I know. But you see, I retreated to Canada this summer for nearly seven weeks. After months and months of non-stop work (and working out), pushing myself to my limits, growing Say Something Communication and taking on new challenges, I decided I needed to invest in rest.
And that’s just what I did.
I returned to Canada, super keen to see my family after nearly a year.
We set off on a wine tour of the Niagara-on-the-Lake region, sampling some of the best ice wines and Ontario whites to kick start my 35th year.
Afternoons were spent at the beach after morning workouts and coffee on the porch (and some PR and event planning work in between writing for one of my favourite magazines).
Weekends were spent visiting with friends, picnics by the water, shopping at the farmers’ markets for the freshest Ontario produce and home-made treats.
Because you see I don’t see any shame in taking a break. A little time out. Time just for me. It’s during this time that I develop new ideas. Explore new opportunities. Clear my mind. We live in a fast-paced environment and without a little bit of rest and taking care of me, I just can’t be the best Mandy. So let’s remember to find a little bit of time for ourselves. Time to recharge. Time to do what we love.
And now I’ve returned rested and ready for what the autumn high season has in store.
